Sometimes I wonder about water,
You beg for it when it’s hotter,
It was given to us and it’s within us,
It is more than just a substance that is superfluous
Is it god, being omniscient and omnipotent?
Is it ether, the container of life magnificent?
Is the crown jewel of all elements?
So important, but yet to most so insignificant?
The many forms of water are a wonder to behold,
Let’s imagine them all and see if there’s a story to be told
In a pond, it gives life to water lilies and toads,
In an ocean, the whales travel it’s mythical roads,
In a glacier, it holds the source of life,
In a river, it cuts through land like a knife,
In rain, it nourishes the trees and flowers,
In snow, it reminds me of childhood and the Christmas hours,
The master said water can flow or it crash,
It can become a bottle or a teapot in a flash,
When still, it’s a mirror that shows us our face,
When raging, it is death, and puts us in our place,
Water is creation and destruction, water is the way of living,
Still, malleable, inevitable, but ever giving,
If you follow closely, then it will always teach you lessons,
I know it now, it’s the blood of the earth and tears of the heavens
