Lingering thoughts are afoot in the mind
Formless shapes with heavy footsteps behind
I look back and see nothing,
But I can feel the cold chaos approaching
They touch me and send a ripple through the present moment,
Taking me backward and then forward in this unforeseen torrent
I travel through time, seeing my past and future blended,
Knowing not what is true or what I have invented
I thought I knew who I was; I thought I knew where I was heading
I thought I knew what I wanted; I thought I knew what I was giving
But these are the dementors of doubt that throw me out of balance
Unsure of it all, I now beg for the golden hand of providence
There is depth in this chaos, sometimes leading to the desert, and other times to a meadow
Sounds of times past and visions of what lies beyond are all but echoes
The blood rushes to move me toward that light from the heart
Chains of fear are my only impediments to a glorious start
Pull yourself back; the world does not exist in the head
We have to live in nature, and one day sleep with the dead
Speak your mind; say what needs to be said
Stand naked on the altar of judgment instead
